Did you read it? Did you love it?
I loved it. Fiercely loved it. And I don’t understand – why must a book become a movie? I remember being at work and not working. Reading instead and crying over my keyboard at the end, and Erin sitting next to me rushing me through. And two days later she did the same thing. Pushed aside work to read. And then wept. And then of course we had to have a ciggie. And felt better. But worse.
Now Hollywood comes along to kill it a little, though I suppose under Peter Jackson’s treatment, optimism is warranted. And now Rachel Weisz has signed on to play mom, forgoing the Mummy 3 in favour of more dramatic flair. Excellent decision.
But I swear, if it’s the obsequious, nerve-grating Dakota Fanning as Susie Salmon...
