On clay.
This is for my cousin Cat who loves Rafa so much, with a lot of stress, and probably didn’t sleep well last night thinking about this morning. It turns out the rain delay helped him. He came out hard today, finishing off Novak Djokovic in the fourth set, despite being down a break when they suspended the match yesterday. Whatever pep talk his uncle gave him, with some extra love from Xisca, obviously worked. Nadal was in no mood to play a fifth. And that’s 7 French Open titles now, more than anyone else ever.
But it’s a blessing and a curse, isn’t it? A blessing for us because tennis has been beautiful the last few years in this golden age of Rafa, Roger, and Novak. A curse though for them because even if you remove just one of those names from the list, the other two easily have at least a couple more Grand Slams.
How much do you love these pictures of Rafa rushing up to his cheering section and, after hugging his mother and sister, being embraced by Pau Gasol?
