Deadline reported last night that Robin Wright will sign on as Erika Berger in the US version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Not bad. I guess I’d be down with seeing her get into bed with Daniel Craig, sure. But it certainly is a glossy production, non?

My friend’s parents pointed this out during the original movies from Sweden. That the actors – those who played Blomkvist, Berger, and the mature Harriet for example – they’ve had almost no work done. They look like Real People. Their faces, they sag. The skin is dry, sometimes brittle. The visages reflect the landscape which, arguably, is a supporting character, particularly in the first book.

Hollywood’s version will be so much more... unwrinkled?

The people love when things are unwrinkled.

As for Robin, it looks like it’ll be a promising Fall ahead. The Conspirator is scheduled to premiere at TIFF perhaps kicking off an award season run. She is now officially divorced from Sean Penn, confirmed this week. She’s also currently working with Brad Pitt on Moneyball. Brad Pitt and David Fincher are tight. And now Fincher is giving her a new, very high profile job. Happy for her.

In other casting news for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Variety is reporting that Stellan Skarsgard will play Martin Vanger. GOOD one.

Lisbeth Salander however remains a mystery.....
