Here’s Aloof Rooney Mara in New York today working on Steven Soderbergh’s The Bitter Pill. She plays a woman who self-medicates in order to cope with her husband’s upcoming prison release. Her husband is Channing Tatum. Her psychiatrist is Jude Law.
As you recall, Mara’s part was originally Blake Lively’s. Lively was Soderbergh’s original choice. Then Megan Ellison’s money came along and apparently meangirled Serena van der Woodsen. Click here for Sarah’s take on it a few months ago. Blake was subsequently dropped and replaced by Aloof who can act better which, I mean, is hysterical when you think about it because if acting was a priority on this project, what the hell does Channing Tatum have to do with it? God, Rich Daughters Of Tech Moguls, why are you making me defend Blake Lively!?
PS. The Bitter Pill is a terribly prosaic title. You think they’ll change it?
