Until lambs become lions.
The question is will these words be as powerful as the ones that came before?
Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
Maximus is back. Only this time he’s called Robin Hood. And the film opens on May 14th. The trailer is below. As you can see, it’s Gladiator v2.0.
Gladiator wasn’t my favourite. I enjoyed it, but I don’t feel for it the way others do. It’s a matter of preference. I think I underestimate other people’s preference. Jacek does not love the movies but he will watch Gladiator every time it’s on tv. And last night during the hockey game, after the Robin Hood trailer came on, I muttered to him that it’s just Gladiator all over again and he said “Yeah, but it looks good”. This surprised me. He doesn’t have a great movie memory nor does he have much movie loyalty. His affinity for Gladiator is a testament then to its enduring appeal. The task ahead for Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott is to capture that a second time. I am so curious to see how Robin Hood performs.
Here’s Russell arriving at Letterman last night and making the morning show rounds. We’ll be seeing him in Cannes next week. Robin Hood will be opening the festival.
