He looks great in this light coloured suit, non?

Ryan Gosling was in New York last night for the premiere of Only God Forgives. He also participated in a Q&A session with director Nicolas Winding Refn and castmates Vithaya Pansringarm, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Yayaying Rhatha Phongam.

Below – have you seen this shot before of Gosling and Phongam in what looks like a still from the film? I’ve never. I love it.

Only God Forgives received mixed reviews coming out of Cannes. Perhaps it suffered from high expectations. After all, they loved Drive over there. Still, even according to those who liked it, it was not the masterpiece from Refn that many had hoped for. As for Gosling, as it was in Drive, he says very little in the movie, relying on his physicality instead. Which, really, is just a showcase for why he is perhaps the actor of his generation. Because Gosling can do more with his face than most can do with 3 pages of dialogue. He does more with a smile than Justin Timberlake could ever hope for. Have you noticed how seldom Gosling smiles in his movies? And the effect on the scene when he finally does smile? I mean a full smile, with teeth, like he’s doing here during the panel discussion. That’s a really, really great smile, isn’t it?
