We’re on a couples roll here today; the first 4 posts have been couples-related. And I really want to keep this going because I’m lame with the theme thing but this is totally a cheat because Rooney Mara and Ryan Gosling aren’t a real couple, they’re just playing one in a Terrence Malick movie shooting in Austin. Look at him. This is one of the reasons why he makes women stupid. Ryan Gosling is great all-round actor. But he’s particularly good at acting the lover. At convincing the viewer that it’s not acting, that he’s actually in love with the person he’s supposed to be pretending to be in love with. More in love than any legitimate, not-fake love in the entire world. It started with The Notebook. Even in Fracture, which wasn’t about love, he was super into it with Rosamund Pike. Lars And The Real Girl, obviously. And the way he held on to Michelle Williams’s face all the time in Blue Valentine...
I can’t wait to see what it’ll be like with Eva Mendes in The Place Beyond The Pines.
