In Palm Springs last week, the cast of The Big Short was honoured for Best Ensemble. During Steve Carell’s acceptance speech for the team, he joked that they all were happy because Ryan Gosling wasn’t there:

As you know, they’ve now worked on two projects together – The Big Short and Crazy, Stupid, Love. So Ryan was one of the people who showed up for Steve yesterday in Hollywood when he received his star on the Walk Of Fame with director Adam McKay. I totally believe they’re close. I also believe it doesn’t hurt with Oscar nominations voting (ballots due tomorrow) to see the solidarity here. The Big Short has been nominated for four Golden Globes – Steve and Christian Bale were both singled out for acting, Adam for his screenplay, and the film for Best Picture Musical or Comedy which means Brad Pitt, a producer, has his name up there. Ryan’s actually the only marquee name attached to the film who hasn’t been recognised individually. Will he show up at the event as part of the team? I think he will. Will Eva Mendes be with him? That’s the question. Because Rachel McAdams could show up in support of Spotlight.

This is what we at etalk call a potential “red carpet run-in”.
