Hi Sasha! For a little over 10 years now, my mother in law has been giving me Vera Bradley purses and accessories as gifts. I absolutely hate Vera Bradley. I understand that some people are really into it but it's just not my style and never has been. When she first started buying the purses for me I tried to carry them around a few times so she didn't get her feelings hurt, then I would turn around and sell them on ebay and make a nice profit. It's been 10 years now and every single gift giving holiday is Vera Bradley overload and I mean every holiday! Mother's Day it's a tote and wallet, my birthday a towel with matching flip flops and tote, Christmas it's another purse, 2 duffle bags, a travel bag for toiletries and a jewelry case. I've actually stopped carrying the purses and have started to immediately sell them on ebay. I keep thinking she is going to get the hint but she doesn't. My mother in law is not the type of person that takes criticism well and thinks she always knows best. How can I tell her I don't like Vera Bradley? I would be so much happier if she were spending her money on things I actually liked. M

Hold up, I have to look up this Vera Bradley…..

Okay, well, they’re really not THAT bad, but yeah, I definitely wouldn’t want more than one of those suckers.   So M, here’s how I see it.  You’re hooped.  Why?  Well, because you’ve let this go on now for TEN YEARS!  That’s a long ass muther f-cking time to be hoarding handbags you hate.  I mean, sh-t, had you said something in year 4 or maybe even year 5, but damn, a decade? I don’t know how you can be upfront now without totally hurting her feelings.

So in my opinion I think it’s in your best interest to keep all of this on the DL.  I mean, you’ve figured out a pretty sweet scenario with the EBAY thing.  Everyone wins in that situation. That is unless one day she asks to see or borrow one of them…..we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

S,
