Hello Sasha, I'm going to concert - don't judge me! I'm going to see Rihanna with some friends. I'm 40ish, I consider myself stylish, and I’m a size 8 with an hour glass figure. I have no idea what to wear to a concert - only because it's going to be hot and I will boil in jeans!! HELP. Also, my daughter is going, who's not happy that I'm going. Anyway, I want to look good but also not look like a street hooker or look like THAT MOM who is trying to pull off an outfit her daughter can. Know what I mean? HELP!! Mélanie

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’m going to be like as a parent. As I get closer to that stage in my life, I really don’t think I’m going to change all that much. Seriously. I still plan to have the same style and I still plan to rap the sh-t out of an Easy E song whenever it comes on. So moms with teens – do they still hate you even though you’re still a cool person inside?

Okay, but back to what to wear. M, I really think you should re-think your jean hang-up because to be honest, I don’t know how I feel about you wearing a dress or a skirt to this concert. Jeans are a safe bet and will be sure to limit the eye-rolling from your daughter. Now I know you want to express your fashion flare so I think you can do that on your top half, so I’ve found some good options that will keep you hot and cool all at the same time.

I bought a top (picture below) from BCBG over the weekend that I’m really down with. I’m always in need of tops that hover between casual and dressy and this is a winner for me. The front detailing adds just enough interest and the arms are perfectly draped for when your arms are up singing along with Umbrella – ella- ella. She better play that song.

Another top I saw at the store this weekend was this Max Azria cut out tee. If you threw this on with a pair of military cargo jeans, I’d think you were the dopest mom in there.

If you want to step it up a notch then sequins is always a no-brainer. Pair this JCREW or this Club Monaco top with a pair of slim cut dark blue/black denim and your zitty teen might even talk to you while you’re there.

Now if you’re a t-shirt kind of girl who still has a fashion forward edge, then Complex Geometries is a great choice. If you haven’t heard of them, be ready to fall in love. At first you might think you can’t pull these looks off, but I swear they are super flattering. It’s all about a good drape and this line has mastered that concept. I love this cowl neck tee in black. Throw it on with a thin black belt with some gold detailing and some heels and you’ll be set.

Finally, if all else fails find a black tank and throw on a vest. You know I’m a fan of that whole military vibe and this Madewell vest is great. Throw on a long necklace and a metal bangle or two and you’ll look fly. But if that’s too casual then I love this draped vest or oh! this silver one. Damn cool if you ask me.

So there you have it M. I hope this gives you a starting point for your night on the town. Can you send me a picture? I want to see what you ended up going with. xx

Hi Sasha, I've recently taken up swimming laps for exercise and with it also being pool season in general, I thought this would be a timely topic. I take pretty meticulous care of my skin - keep it clean, moisturize, etc, but I can tell this excessive chlorine exposure is going to cause some problems. I'm already seeing some drying out. Any tips on after-pool moisturizers or products for my face? Or just tips in general on after-pool face maintenance? Thankfully, I swim indoors so the sun doesn't create any additional problems. Thanks so much! Babs

How much do I love your name, Babs.

Okay I’m going to hit you up with some of my favorite new products these days – fingers crossed they bring back your pre-chlorine glow.

A while back I mentioned the amazing Kosmea Rescue balm. I swear by it. It’s beyond the best thing I’ve ever tried. Recently I was lucky enough to try out a wack load of their other products and I’m seriously in love. This has been my regime as of late and my face thanks me. What's about to follow may sound like a commercial, but I promise I’m not Avon-ing your ass right now.

First I use their Clarifying Facial Wash. It’s creamy and works up a good lather, which is key. Usually after I wash my face it feels all tight, but with this stuff I’m still able to crack a smile without my face feeling like it’s about to split in half.

Once a week I use their Daily Facial Exfoliant. Babs, this could be a great way to scrub any residue kid pee off your mug. Also another great thing is that it doubles up as a mask. Who doesn’t love a two-in-one?

On days when my skin is feeling extra dry I use Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil. It’s straight up liquid gold. It’s also great to use on scars and other weird looking shit.

Lastly, their Moisturizing Lotion SPF30+. Ding ding ding! Love this product. It’s already loaded with SPF 30, which is great when you’re as lazy as I am. It just kind of soaks into your face. Get it and see for yourself.

I’ve also been testing some samples from Beautyphica.com – have you visited the site yet? f you haven’t, you need to. Anyhow, one of the standouts for me is the Ainy Nourishing Radiance Serum. It’s packed with a bunch of natural products I can’t pronounce and I’ve gotta say - it’s real good. A lot of serums on the market are crazy expensive; this isn’t cheap but it’s moderately priced at 74 bucks - however you only need a couple of drops so it will last you a while.

Lastly, H20. There are so many products that talk about hydration but it really all comes down to drinking a sh-t tonne of water. I say this while drinking Fanta….so let’s all make a deal to drink more together.

My girlfriend is going to Royal Ascot (in the Royal Enclosure, lucky girl) – see strict dress guidelines below. Can you recommend some hot pink or yellow dresses that would suit this event, it’s coming up soon and she doesn’t have anything yet! Thanks!

Royal Enclosure Dress Code

Her Majesty’s Representative wishes to point out that only formal day dress with a hat or substantial fascinator will be acceptable. Off the shoulder, halter neck, spaghetti straps and dresses with a strap of less than one inch and miniskirts are considered unsuitable. Midriffs must be covered and trouser suits must be full length and of matching material and colour.

I admit I had no idea what the hell the Royal Ascot was, but now that I’ve looked it up I see that it’s a big freaking deal. Also while reading up on the dress code, you’re also apparently not allowed to have a ‘visible panty line’ – that’s my favorite – so I guess commando is the safest bet, but isn’t that pretty whorey?! Whatever, your friend can make the executive call on that one.

Okay so let’s strap on our fascinators and get going!

You didn’t give me a price range so I’m going to assume that if she’s elite enough to be invited, she might be rolling out some elite-level dough. First up, check out this kick ass hot pink dress. Gulp – I love it. Pink and Red has to be one of my favorite color combinations. But if that’s too expensive, then your friend could pick up this Elie Tahari dress and pin something like these red flowers on it. Same effect at a better price point.

Don’t know what it is about dresses with shoulder detail but, I gravitate to them, and this one reminds me of Victoria Beckham. Right?

What do you think about this number? I’m really into the draping panel detail in the front and the sheer hem at the bottom adds just the right amount of flirt.

Next, if your friend likes a bit of 60’s flare then this Aryn K Mad Men dress is great. This type of dress is timeless so your bud could get a lot of wear out of it, plus, it’s under 100 bucks.

Okay, moving on to some yellow options.

Really digging this Talbots dress – please, with a big rimmed hat, she’ll look the part.

By now you know I love asymmetrical dresses but seeing as the Queen is a big ass prude, check out this sunny dress - it somehow gives the illusion of being one shouldered and that’s good enough for me.

Lastly click on this Kate Spade dress. Okay, I don’t know if the straps are one-inch but come on, there’s nothing remotely slutty about it. It’s got proper written all over it.

I hope this helps your friend and now that I’ve helped her can she hook me up with Harry?
