So f-cking random...

Many of you in Ontario have been emailing me about this for a couple of weeks now after having heard the advertisements on the radio. Sean Penn, two time Oscar winner, will be speaking/performing at the Fallsview Casino Resort on August 25 and 26 in Niagara Falls...what the f-ck???

When did Sean Penn become Danny Bonaduce? Or some other television actor from the 70s hustling on the slot route for a few grand and a place to sleep? Or Jessica Simpson! She’s performed there too! Here’s the official event description:

An award-winning powerhouse performer, Sean Penn is an actor, writer, producer and director. He is best known for his critically acclaimed roles in Mystic River, Milk, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Dead Man Walking and Sweet and Lowdown. Penn has recently focused his humanitarian efforts on Haiti since the devastating earthquake in 2010. Now, see him, LIVE, on stage for a candid interview and Q&A session with the audience that will highlight his extraordinary career and life.

We will be pre-recording audience questions for possible selection and air during the live performance. A video booth will be set up at the Fallsview Casino Resort Avalon Theatre between 12:00pm - 7:00pm day of show. Stop by the Box Office with your purchased tickets to pre-record your question.

What is happening? What is this world?

Sean Penn taking (pre-recorded) questions from the crowd and dispensing his wisdom on stage with a microphone at a casino? If you’re interested, I think there are still a lot of tickets left. They start at $90 which... I am SO confused. Like, again, WHAT IS HAPPENING??? Is he poor?

Well, he has to pay for a divorce. And he’s trying to raise money for Haiti, although I can’t imagine why if all proceeds were going to Haiti they wouldn’t post that right up on the event page for this appearance. That’s what you do when it’s a charity event. So, if it’s not a charity event, and it really doesn’t look like one...

Sean Penn is just there to talk about himself. In a 1,500 seat theatre. In a casino in NIAGARA FALLS!!!

WHAT IS HAPPENING???

Also, Sean Penn, f-ck you if you think I’m about to stop by the box office and pay $90 for the right to video my question about “your method and your craft” so that you can bore me to sh-t about your process. Please. Give me a true live show, and pass around the mic, and answer my questions about Madonna and Scarlett Johansson and then I’ll eat Kraft Dinner for a month and you can charge me $1,000/ticket for the privilege.
