“All I want to do is act…I’m an actor” – Lilo’s mantra, in every interview, in every article, whenever the pappies are around, she claims she’s an actor. That acting is her calling, that she will win an Oscar by the time she’s 30.
Bitch… please.
Because if that were the case, why would she pass on a prestige project like The Best Time of Our Lives? Not just a biopic but a Dylan Thomas biopic – doesn’t get any heavier than that, to say nothing of Keira Knightley’s track record.
Keira is not my favourite but Keira does not make horrible movies. Interspersed with the Disney blockbusters, she has aligned herself with smaller British indie pics that have secured her an Oscar nomination already, and buzz for another around her performance in Atonement due out later this year (have you read the book? It crushed me).
All this leaves Keira in good standing among her peers…including Lindsay Lohan, opposite whom Keira was scheduled to play in The Best Time of Our lives – that is, until Lilo backed out.
Or did she?
The “official” story is that Keira is right pissed that Lilo bailed last minute, with shooting slated to begin imminently. However, my sources have told me exclusively that that could be a “save face” arrangement for Lindsay, that she was allegedly deemed unsuitable for the role, for obvious reasons, and told she was unwelcome, but was offered a back door out – with producers supposedly graciously offering that she could spin the situation so that it wouldn’t look like she’d been fired. Am following up on this, will keep you posted. Bottom line though – Lindsay Lohan, no Oscar any time soon. No respect any time soon…dumb ass.
In the meantime, the beneficiary of all this drama is none other than Sienna Miller, who has filled Lilo’s spot and who is ecstatic for the opportunity following the disastrous critical and commercial performance of Factory Girl. She is hoping The Best Time will be her comeback, with a renewed focus on making films in England, rather than trying to break into the big market stateside.
However…it will be interesting to follow what unfolds between Sienna and Keira on set. By all accounts, Keira is a consummate professional – especially so in this case as her mother wrote the script. Sienna, on the other hand, as we all know, is temperamental at best, downright impossible at worst. And if she’s, um, dabbling in other activities too?
Look. Out.
