I start every single morning with one serving of hemp hearts in or on whatever I am eating for breakfast.  These tiny little seeds are the easiest way to increase your daily intake of Omega-6 and Omega-3.  You can only get these Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) through food such as eggs, fish, fish oils and some nuts and seeds and your body can not function without them.  Hemp hearts are also loaded with protein and are very high in fibre while at the same time they are very low in sugar (less than 1 gram per serving).  You may be alarmed at the higher fat content in these seeds (13 grams of fat for 3 tablespoons), but it is all GOOD fat, fats that your body needs and you will notice that when you start having hemp seeds with your breakfast you will stay fuller longer, be less likely to reach for sugary and starchy foods at lunch and even be more likely to opt for a smaller dinner.  Because I start my day so early I enjoy the energy I get from these little seeds, and I am not drinking nearly as much coffee as I used to.

I put hemp hearts in my smoothies, I mix them into my oatmeal and steal cut oats and I even have them sprinkled on top of my peanut butter and banana on squirrelly bread.  And if you miss them at breakfast you can add them to your salad at lunch or dinner or into your yogurt for your mid morning snack. Adding hemp hearts to your day is a very simple way to improve your diet, decrease your blood sugar and help you lose those last few pounds you just can not seem to get rid of.  You can find them at any health food store, Whole Foods or in the organic section of your local grocery store.  Click here to order them online.
