Taylor Momsen, 16, is current performing with her band Pretty Reckless on the Warped Tour, seen here on her way to the stage in Columbia, Maryland yesterday.
As you know, Momsen describes herself as no ordinary teen. She’s, like, way more artistically attuned, mature, wise, she feels stronger and harder, she doesn’t need school to learn, she knows about sh-t, more sh-t than anyone else her age, and she’s feeling sh-t at her age, thinking sh-t at her age, that no one her age has ever felt or thought before. A true original. As you can see from her clothing:
"I think firing my stylist has allowed me to be more free. I now dress myself, and told everyone who was telling me to look a certain way and fit a certain mold for the niche that I was being put in, and I said f-ck that. … I was getting molded into this thing that wasn’t who I am." (Source)
I really love it when they say “I fired my stylist”. Like “I’ve decided not to work with a stylist” isn’t a more gracious way of speaking. But, you know, when you’re a visionary like Taylor Momsen, that kind of disrespect and entitlement is not only tolerated but also encouraged.
