Jada Pinkett-Smith looked really great walking around New York yesterday. I’m mostly referring to her clothes because I want my pants to fit like that. Her daughter, Willow, was also seen in NYC on Thursday (though they were not together) hopping around on some inspired footwear apparently on her way to visit with the Blue Ivy Carter.

So you know the practice by news outlets to have prepared obituaries on file at the ready for when certain celebrities they think might be likely to die actually die? Call it a Marriage Obituary for Jada and Will Smith and I’m told many outlets have it written, and they’re especially anxious about it every Friday. That’s when the bigger celebrities like to release separation announcements after everyone has gone home.

For the better part of the year now the tabloids have been calling for the Smiths to end. Every couple of weeks or so since August 2011, In Touch goes at them hard. Some of the lower ranking other tabloids have followed their lead. So that now it’s considered an inevitability. In Touch et al aren’t exactly the most reliable of publications, as we know, as demonstrated by the fact that they’ve also predicated the demise of the Brange over 100 times, but still…

No one takes those Brange break reports seriously anywhere. (NO THEY ARE NOT HAVING MORE TWINS!) Whereas everyone I’ve been talking to in LA the last few weeks seems convinced that the Smith split is only a matter of time…

How did the indestructible Smiths suddenly become so (seemingly and publicly) fragile?

We need to talk about this in class.
