“Top” lists to me are weird. Some names on the lists I totally, totally understand. Others...
???
Askmen.com has announced its annual Top 49 Most Influential Men of 2011 list. Steve Jobs is #1. Completely. Sure. Seal Team Six is #2. Fine. Then Larry Page and Warren Buffett which, HUH? to them being back to back, right?
The only celebrity male to make the top 5?
Kanye West.
Kanye West finished in front of Prince William (#7, and I agree) and the only other celebrity to crack the Top 10 is Ryan Gosling who’s #9. All of them came in ahead of Jon Stewart at #12. See what I mean? Ryan Gosling is hot. But Ryan Gosling > Jon Stewart? Come on now.
I don’t get it. And I certainly don’t get Charlie Sheen showing up at #16 while President Barack Obama is #21.
What the F-CK???
Peter Dinklage and Louis CK both made it - very cool - but then there’s limp Bradley Cooper, possibly being used by Jennifer Lopez, though I haven’t decided, dangling near the bottom at #47, above Simon Cowell at #49, and I really, really wonder if we need a new dictionary that defines words by gender. Because as handsome as he is, with really good hair, and I do like his acting, I cannot figure out how Bradley Cooper might possibly be considered “influential” and more so than Simon Cowell. Don’t make Cooper the representative of the success of The Hangover just because he’s the least “nerdy” of the movie’s stars. Giving it to Zach Galifianakis would have been a LOT less derivative.
