I read the last quarter of The Lovely Bones at work in 2002. I had bought the book the previous evening, didn’t sleep, read through the night, and could not even open my email until I finished. Back then I shared an office with Erin, a wonderful friend, and she walked in and found me hunched over my desk, obsessively devouring every word, and sobbing.

Loved that book so much.

Makes me nervous when they try to adopt complicated books into movies. Like The Time Traveller’s Wife. That trailer looks like sh-t. And this trailer for The Lovely Bones… don’t like at all.

Was just released this week and while Susie is indeed perfectly cast, something about the tone of it all, or at least the way they cut this trailer, something about it seems off.

Thoughts?

And then there’s Where the Wild Things Are – a second trailer has just come. As brilliant as the first. Everyone is talking about this film, everyone is waiting for it, due out on October 16th, directed by Spike Jonze, screenplay by Dave Eggers, with the enthusiastic support of Maurice Sendak…

Every step along the way it has lived up to the hype.

I’ve watched this several times since yesterday. And still there are goosebumps. Now this is a f-cking trailer.
