David Beckham wanted to stay with AC Milan. And he’s getting what he wants.
The LA Galaxy has agreed to let him play in Italy until the end of the season May 31st at which point he may represent England in 2 World Cup qualifiers before reporting back to the Galaxy in the US for the second part of their season.
But…
There were money issues.
So he is partly financing his own way. AC Milan was obligated to pay the Galaxy a rumoured $10 million to rent Becks. They were only willing to spend $3 million. So David Beckham offered to put up another $3 million of his own and an agreement was reached.
Statement from AC Milan:
Beckham is one of the few players who show their affection for a club in a tangible manner. Everyone is happy to say such things, but few actually give up a mountain of money to wear the Rossoneri jersey.
Statement from Beckham:
I’m really grateful to the LA Galaxy and AC Milan for making this dream deal happen,” Beckham said. “It allows me to play for AC Milan and the LA Galaxy in the same year, and also to continue my commitment to develop soccer in the United States, which is something I am passionate about.
Here he is on the pitch for AC Milan on Saturday vs Atalanta looking hot with his hot hair. His team won 3-0 playing in front of a crowd that included Mrs Beckham, wearing white so that we could see her.
