My second biggest disappointment of the night was how little we got to see of Miss Tina’s youngest daughter, Solange Knowles. Solange’s A Seat at the Table was one of my favourite albums of 2016. Solange had an incredible year. Last night, she won her first Grammy for Best R&B Performance for Cranes in the Sky. They did not give out this award during the broadcast so we were deprived of a Solange acceptance speech.
Instead, Solange tweeted a glimpse at what her speech would have been.
Thank you for your well wishes. Gratitude.— solange knowles (@solangeknowles) February 13, 2017
If I would've gotten to accept this, I would've said black girls/women ARE grammys mothafuckaaaa🌹 pic.twitter.com/Pm1LncrIAo
Just when I thought I couldn’t love her any more. Tell me why I needed to see The Chainsmokers on that stage instead of a Solange acceptance speech, again? Not only did we also miss out on a Solange performance but she got a bit ripped off when she walked on stage to scattered boos. The boos were because seconds before Solange took the stage, Adele’s co-writer Greg Kurstin got played off by the music without getting a word in. In unfortunate timing, Solange had to walk on stages to boos not knowing at all what the f-ck was going on.
She still looked FLAWLESS and gave a lovely introduction to A Tribe Called Quest. I love the structure of this gown and the gold is perfect. Even better than the dress? Her minimal makeup.
I’m also really into the red number she changed into after the show and this caption.
