Dear Gossips,

It’s a good day to be a Blink.

After months of speculation about their future as a group, including a lot of rumouring that one or more of them was having contractual difficulties with their label, BLACKPINK’s company, YG Entertainment, announced today that all four members, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé, have renewed their contracts.

Immediately upon announcement, YG share prices skyrocketed, which was probably a relief since, back in September, when it was thought that some of the members were looking to only work on band related activities part-time, YG stocks fell dramatically, perhaps a reminder to company executives of the value of these four women. And so, presumably, over the last few months, they’ve been able to come to a deal that works for the artists.

In addition to confirming that the contracts have been renewed, it’s also been reported that new music and a new tour are forthcoming. BLACKPINK wrapped their most recent tour in September so, hopefully, a comeback is imminent and will happen early in 2024 to build on the momentum of this announcement.

And then there’s the gossip. Specifically related to Jennie and BTS’s V. BTS’s company recently revealed that he, RM, Jimin, and Jungkook would soon be beginning their mandatory military service. Korean media is saying this will happen some time next week. All four of them did a livestream yesterday and, as you can see, V’s hair is now much shorter, likely in preparation to report for duty.

Jennie and V have been dating for about a year, but since he’ll be in the army for at least 18 months, Korean media is reporting today that they’ve ended their relationship. At that age, and with their careers, a year and a half is a long time to wait. The romantic in me is devastated.

But the Blink and ARMY in me is optimistic. BLACKPINK is staying together. And all seven members of BTS will soon be enlisted which means that the reunion, in 2025, is on schedule.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
