Dear Gossips,

As MC mentioned yesterday in his weekly column, Mariah Carey is teasing new music. And she confirmed yesterday that a new song, “Type Dangerous” is coming out this Friday, and while there’s no official mention of an album, the fact that she’s been hinting at “MC16” likely means an album will follow.

My first reaction though when she posted her brief “What’s your type?” preview the other day…

… was this: she’s driving… herself?!?

Since WHEN?

And, hilariously, I’m not the only one. Because Anderson .Paak posted a comment and, well, it’s a good question!

LOL FOREVER.

We’ve known now about Mimi and Anderson’s relationship for about six months when he showed up in Aspen with her for Christmas. About a year ago though is when something may have first sparked when they ran into each other at Electric Lady Studios in New York City and posted about it.

He confirmed in May that they are indeed collaborating… professionally. Personally they’re also collaborating but he hasn’t publicly talked about that. But he is comfortable enough to be able to joke about her aversion to mobility in the comments.

Which, like, I love this for our butterfly. Anderson is hilarious. Sometimes he makes me laugh just looking at him, that goofy, scampy smile. All the times he and Bruno Mars, as Silk Sonic, dialed up the cheese. He’s a ham – and there is no question, he makes her laugh. We want our Mimi to be with someone who amuses her, who cracks her up, who can mock her, lovingly, because he’s serving her in all the ways that matter. And who’s making hits with her! I mean, I’m not entirely convinced that “dangerous” is the first adjective that comes to mind to describe Anderson .Paak, but maybe that’s the version of him that only she can bring out.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
