Today is World Bee Day, meant to “raise awareness of the importance of pollinators, the threats they face, and their contribution to sustainable development” as designated by the United Nations. As we all know, Angelina Jolie has long been associated with the UN and a special portrait of her, surrounded by bees, was released today in support of World Bee Day and a new initiative between UNESCO and Guerlain that will involve training 50 women beekeepers to build 2,500 bee hives and restock 125 million bees by 2025. It was Angelina who wanted to do the portrait. LOOK AT HOW AMAZING THIS IS, especially the second slide, which is a video from the shoot. Please also read the caption, written by Dan Winters, who outlines the safety precautions that were taken to protect both the people involved in the project but of course, just as important, the bees.

I couldn’t, there’s no way. But I’m not Angelina Jolie, who is chill as f-ck as the bees hang out all around her, and still as f-ck too. As Dan explains, she remained still for 18 minutes, except for when she calmly lifts her head to pose, and subtly adjusts her expressions. There’s no fear in her eyes though, and she doesn’t look nervous. She looks prepared and determined, sure, but also warm, and as usual… so f-cking beautiful. A Queen Bee indeed.
