In Cannes last night it was the big Furiosa premiere and Anya Taylor-Joy was the main. Anya is a Dior ambassador and it’s pretty much part of the contract that for a red carpet with this much heat, she can’t wear anything else.

So Dior it is and this is a classic – we’re not breaking any ground here but that’s not really in Dior’s wheelhouse. And it’s not like she doesn’t look great in this sparkly, strapless champagne gown, princess fit, with the bold lip, and thankfully not a sock bun. At first, seeing her from the front, I groaned thinking it was a sock bun. How stupid of me to think that ATJ could be so basic.

As pretty as the gown was, though, for me the second Dior was much more interesting. She wore black and flirty and fringy beaded Dior to the after-party and it’s perfect:

Furiosa, by the way, was well-received in Cannes. I’m not talking about the standing ovation either because the standing ovations have become so rote it’s now meaningless. The reviews are solid, some people are saying it’s not quite as gritty or compelling as Fury Road but still a strong effort. Obviously the one I’m waiting on is Sarah’s which is coming next week.

So that was last night, this morning Anya and Team Furiosa were back at the Palais for the press conference and this look is muuuuuch more interesting. Also, as we know, our girl loves a headpiece, and the headpiece came through.

There is one other look I want to shout out from last night though – Cannes jury president Greta Gerwig has come to the festival to celebrate film… and serve. Greta’s daily fashion show has been top tier and last night, once again, she came in hot in Armani Privé – the fit of this dress, the luxuriousness of the fabric, it is stunning, she is stunning…although my tiniest of notes is that Spanx line. The way this dress is built, the high quality of the material, and how great she looks, I don’t think she needs it. But I get why people wear Spanx, so I’m not here to take away from whatever helps with confidence. It’s just the reality of shapewear with body-con looks is that it’s so hard to get it so that you can’t see the lines. Which kinda contradicts the purpose because if the appeal of shapewear is for smoothing, the appearance of the line, both at the top and the bottom of the shapewear, defeats the purpose.

Or this could just be my OCD, because I fixate on this kind of thing to the point where it actually gets in the way of my productivity. So I’ll stop now and you can yell at me about being nitpicky.
