Something About Her style
Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney’s much anticipated sandwich shop, Something About Her, is open! After getting a lot of side-eye from the cast for the time it was taking and some issues with the trademark, it turns out it was just red tape (and not some drawn-out scheme to sell merchandise, per the depths of the Bravo fandom).
Andy Cohen showed up to the opening and he very rarely does that for Bravo cast members, which I understand. Every other day there’s a wine launch or cookbook or workout wear line – he wouldn’t be able to get anything else done. I think he showed up here because there were no Vanderpump Rules cameras (which would break the fourth wall too much) and because I think he likes and supports some cast members more than others.
Ariana wore fairly normal street clothes, this looks like an outfit she can work in on the first day. I was asked about the shirt, it’s by Boys Lie Bridezilla (that has to be intentional!) and it’s on sale here.
Eva Mendes gets big style love
I have been asked about Eva Mendes so many times and I know she had a line with New York & Company that fizzled out (NY&Co went through major financial issues in 2020) but another brand should be putting out feelers because women love the way she dresses. This skirt is by H&M (previous season, there’s a few floating around on resellers). H&M has nothing close to this print this year and a lot of stealth wealth style is still permeating spring, which means not a lot of prints and really muted tones. For this really bold print against a bright colour, the go-to line is Farm Rio. This pink paisley skirt is a similar vibe. Much pricier than H&M, but there aren’t a ton of options right now for people who want more than three colours in their wardrobe.
Fergie’s flare pants
Fergie hit up Kate Hudson’s LA show to support her and shared a few photos. It’s a concert and Fergie dressed accordingly – this is an audience look. As a celebrity supporting another celebrity, it’s important to walk the line between looking good (because it’s a Kate Hudson show and you know the audience is going to be looking for other famous people in the crowd) and not being an attention grabber. This outfit fits that. She’s worn these several times – Frame’s Le Flare De Francoise suede pants. Frame makes a bunch of different versions of Le Flare including leather and velveteen. If this cut is your jam, there’s plenty of options to choose from but Fergie’s exact brown suede pants are currently sold out.
Maya Rudolph’s Loot wardrobe is RICH
We’ve talked about Loot before because Maya Rudolph playing a billionaire has yielded so many great looks. Costume designer Kirston Mann talked to Town & Country about it and T&C calls the looks flamboyant – that’s exactly the right word. Lots of big prints, over-the-top costume jewelry, head pieces, accessories, ruffles, bows etc. It’s wonderful. A reader wrote in and asked me about “the top that looks like a nun’s habit” and I knew exactly what she was talking about.
Apple won’t let us screenshot (why do streamers do this? It’s so frustrating!) but I took a really bad pic of my TV. It is Jil Sander (completely sold out, not even a sniff of it online) and it’s actually a dress.
Jil Sander is the epitome of 90s minimalism chic (like very Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy) – impeccable tailoring, clean lines. It looks rich but it is the opposite of ostentatious.
Here's s clip of the cast talking about their wardrobe. The show is in its second season and it’s a little slumpy, relying too much on Maya’s ability to do physical comedy and getting a little redundant with the storylines. It needs to mix it up or it won’t make it past season three.
