Jennifer Aniston sunglasses

Last week, Lainey wrote about Jennifer Aniston’s consistent style and how that shapes our perception of her. A reader asked about Jennifer’s sunglasses and in terms of research, it’s easy to narrow down brands. Her rotation includes YSL, Tom Ford, Dior and Armani for the red carpet. I didn’t think she’d deviate too far from that for her sunglasses and checked my go-to for celebrities: Celine. Sure enough Nordstrom has it (sunglass styles typically don’t have names so if you are looking for these in your area, check the style number under “Details & Care” instructions).

When it comes to sunglasses, always check for sales (most frames all come from the same factories!) and I get the best deals at a local optical store, which feels like the last place you can still negotiate prices. (Thanks Catherine!)

Eva Mendes’s fancy button-down

Boy do I love a button down. I have a whole section of them but not every button-down is created equal. Some are too stiff, some have too much room in the shoulders, some are too wrinkly. Finding the perfect one is a personal journey. Here’s Eva Mendes in a ruffle neck button-down, which is casual for every day but might spice up a Zoom outfit. It looks like this shirt from Alex Mill, a brand formed by people who shaped The Gap, Old Navy, J.Crew and Madewell. I have a few shirts and it is good quality, classic stuff (very preppy). It’s not inexpensive (a button-down runs about $300 Canadian with taxes and shipping) but for reference, I have a sweater from there that is on its fifth year and still looking good and I beat the hell out of my clothes.

The Sandman’s Nuptse puffer

Adam Sandler is a gem. He makes dumb movies with his friends and wears basketball shorts on the red carpet and dips in once in a while to show off his acting skills and that’s it. No sex pest rumours, no weird transphobia, no “I’m not allowed to be funny because of cancel culture!” complaints. I get a kick out of his outfits and this mint green The North Face puffer is his current go-to. The style is called the Nuptse and you’ve likely seen it (it’s extremely popular) but the colour block version is most common. (I’ve had my eye on the blue/red combo but puffer jackets never work for me so I can’t commit.) Adam is wearing the 1996 Retro Nuptse and for those interested, there are limited sizes left at Luiaviaroma. In December 2021, Vogue called Adam an unlikely fashion icon and in July 2022 InStyle hailed the end of Hot Girl Summer and the start of Adam Sandler Summer. His unintended reign as the king of dadcore continues. (Flip to second photo to see the jacket.)

Taylor Swift’s not-red lip

Did you see Taylor’s look at the iHeartRadio Music Awards? I loved it the hooded jumpsuit and think she looked fantastic. A reader wrote in not for fashion (it’s Alexandre Vauthier) but for her makeup. Specifically, the pink-ish nude lip.

As we know, Taylor’s signature is a red lip, which has been covered a lot. These subtle shades are much harder to pinpoint and there’s no info at the usual sources (beauty magazines like Allure and InStyle). We also don’t know who did her makeup; for the Eras tour, it’s been Lorrie Turk (who doesn’t tag products) but she hasn’t posted about iHeart Radio. I’ve also checked Tumblr and fan threads because Swifties are like the CIA, but no luck. With that, I did my own research and focused on lines she tends to favour. As it’s a lip colour, there’s definitely the possibility of some blending and these are the shades I think are closest:

-Nars Afterglow Sensual Shine in Breathless 200 (stock is really low)

-Lisa Elrdige Kitten Mischief (which would be very fitting for a cat lover)

-Le Mepris

But to me this looks the closest: Pat McGrath (who Taylor has worked with) launched new shades and to my eye, this lip looks a lot like what Taylor is wearing. See the tags on the post for the exact products. (Thanks Tobbi!)
