Game, set, fashion, match…

All eyes were on tennis because of Coco Gauff’s epic win and also because the crowd felt extra glamorous this year. I have two requests: the first is for First Lady Michelle Obama’s strapless denim dress (it’s Oscar de la Renta, Vogue has the full details).

So while we might not be splashing out on Oscar D., there are lots of denim dresses out this season (along with denim pencil skirts, which I am really into on other people but not for me!). I like seeing them out in the wild though. Reformation has a strapless denim dress and this one from Lioness has a sweetheart neckline (Shopbop has limited sizes). There’s also a slightly more fashion-y dress with a more extreme neckline from Magda Butrym (it’s on sale but still close to $1k). For those who want to try it and not blow the fall budget, Zara has a denim column dress (for $80 in Canada).

Tay-watch continues
Before the VMAs, Taylor stepped out in what I would describe as a sage blue – it photographs as blue with green undertones, I think? A reader inquired about the shoe and as we know, Taylor’s fans have us covered. This is a suede block heel from Prada, which is no longer available.

Luckily, a suede block is a classic style but on the flip side, the light blue colour is not standard (like black or brown) so for fall, it’s slightly harder to find in that shade. These Jeffrey Campbell heels are a great dupe but it only comes in black or brown suede. These Loeffler Randall suede heels are the right shade, but the heel is a little higher and the straps are knotted, giving it a bit of a heavier look than the Pradas Taylor wore. For the shopper, it comes down to what is more important, the colour of the shoe or the style?

Nicole Kidman IS Human

Back to tennis: Lainey posted about Nicole Kidman at the US Open in a perfect tennis look – it’s Bottega Veneta and the tank is Naked Cashmere (her stylist posted with all the tags).

But when a reader wrote in to ask, I immediately went to The Frankie Shop because I recently bought a pinstripe shacket (that’s what they are called, we all need to just get over it) that looks just like Nicole’s. It’s selling super fast (only XS/S is available on SSense). The Frankie Shop also sells poplin shorts that match – their signature is matching sets. This isn’t a dupe because The Frankie Shop has been making the Dallas shirt (that’s the style) and shorts for years. It’s a parallel choice, in my opinion.
