Barry Keoghan invited GQ to get ready with him for the Met Gala yesterday and before we talk about his fit, let’s talk about the part in the article that jumped out at me, probably accidentally:
“The actor just flew into New York City from his new homebase of London, where he visited his young son Brando…”
Can this be considered a Freudian slip? Do we use the word “visiting” when we refer to parents and children?
Anyway, as expected Barry’s look for the Met Gala was Burberry, leaning into the old-timey thing and while it worked for some, in my opinion it didn’t work for him. He looks like he’s playing the role of a wealthy Victorian man who was mean to orphans. Also he and Sabrina Carpenter posed together so they’re clearly not super precious about their relationship in public which I co-sign. (GQ)

Everyone paying attention to the Met Gala last night was waiting on Rihanna, for fun or for work, as was the case for us at ETALK because we were in production until about midnight last night. We have learned from years past that RiRi is always on her own time, which already means she’s on theme, lol, and often arrives at her hotel to start getting ready when many people have started to show up on the carpet. So it was appreciated that she sent word to various media outlets that she would not actually be attending anymore because she has the flu. Or she thought the theme was as boring as I did. Or she didn’t feel like it anymore and decided to order takeout. Any of those options is possible. (Hollywood Unlocked)
Everyone has a f-cking opinion on how women work out. I was at the gym pre-COVID times, running on the treadmill and some mansplaining f-ck decided to approach me when I was finished my run to tell me I had bad technique. He may or may not have called me “sweetheart”, and if he didn’t he was saying that sh-t to me in a “sweetheart, let me instruct you” kind of way so you get the point. Kayleigh Donaldson writes about why “men online are so weird” about women exercising. (Pajiba)
Anya Taylor-Joy was not at the Met Gala last night presumably because she’s busy with Furiosa promotion, even though that didn’t stop Chris Hemsworth. The junket is happening this week though which means it’s being screened and the first reactions are quite positive. (The Mary Sue)
I am typically a big fan of Kerry Washington’s style. So last night at the Met Gala was a surprise – not into it at all. It’s so … dull. Even though it was purple it kinda got eaten up by all the other botany. (Celebitchy)
