You know, she already started the night on a high, with her creative pronunciations of Kaylee Cuoco and ________________. You never quite know if she’s joking, and that makes her exciting to watch, because anything could happen.

And you can tell that everyone feels it. Everyone loves her. Even Jerrod Carmichael, whose entire focus last night was to say as many absolutely gasp-worthy one-liners as possible, added defending Jennifer Coolidge’s White Lotus alter ego, Tanya McQuoid, to his agenda.

People want to care for this woman. And, in a move that really blew me away, one that happened over and over again tonight, she talked about that care in detail. The whole speech is below, but you can skip right to the part I’m talking about at the 27 second mark.

“You know, there were like 5 people who kept me going for 20 years with these little jobs…” She mentions Ryan Murphy was one of them, and that Mike White gave her hope at a time in her life when she didn’t think she was ever going to have something exciting happen again – and turns of fate like that are why we’re so addicted to this business and this fantasy: romance and possibility are always right there, and who better to point that out than arguably the hottest comedic actress of the year?

Side note – did we all note Colin Farrell *springing* up at the ready to walk her up onstage? Like, I love him forever but I can see how those who find him A Bit Overdone would be skeptical of that Goofus & Gallant moment.

May they have found each other at the after party, since she was clearly feeling herself in this coat, and the Golden Globe she won is nowhere in sight. Which sounds about perfect.
