Today is a Global Cultural Holiday. For the Fourth of September is also known as B’Day, and though you know her without having to hear her name, her name is spoken as a blessing. We were blessed on the fourth day of the ninth month in the year 1981 and the universe was changed forever with the birth of Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter, first of her name, The Unslayed, Queen of the Bees and the First Workers, Queen of the Hive, Monarch of the Great Ranch, Protector of the Arts, Lady Regent of Song, Breaker of the Internet, and Mother of All Culture.

Today, She is 43 and, of course, we pay our respects to the legend. It’s all over social media, as it always is when this holiest day of the year is upon us. This one is my favourite tweet, because of course without Mother there would be no Mother.

Also, we’ve been given our orders. On her birthday, Beyoncé has released a new promotional video and a new website for her new whiskey, SirDavis. And she speaks! She is the hard “T’s” and letting the “S’s” flow. B says she likes her whiskey with a biTe.

On the website, there are cocktail recipes. The Honey Bee, obviously. And Texas Buckin’, Whiskey Lemonade, Davis Old Fashioned, The Houston, and more. All of them intimately connected to the essence of Beyoncé, a directed link to her music and history. As with all of Beyoncé’s projects, it’s in the details, and you don’t get to be as detailed as Beyoncé if you haven’t been thinking about it for a long, long time.

But as much as we think about her? If you’ve been visiting this site over the years, you know I think about Beyoncé constantly. While she’s spinning her mysteries, I’m here wondering about those mysteries. Remember when she dropped a whole country masterpiece and basically did less than the minimum to promote it and disappeared, again?

And now, on her birthday, she’s like, this is my whiskey, and if you want to get me something, get yourself something – SirDavis. Remember to drink responsibly. Girl, I would… if I could get it! Where is it in Canada!?
