Bridgerton season two arrives on March 25, and a trailer must be coming soon because Netflix dropped a batch of first look photos, conveniently giving us high-res images of all the main characters, new and old. There is Daphne, looking like she’s giving Anthony a late-night dressing down, and the Bridgerton boys fencing in tight pants—and Benedict looking so OVER the constant drama between Anthony and Colin, which is why he’s the best Bridgerton boy—and the Featheringtons, looking as outré as ever. And there is Kate Sharma, in her little top hat and large gun, being better at everything than the boys. Ever since season one ended by setting up Anthony as the protagonist of season two, people have been complaining because Anthony is straight clown shoes at this point, but book readers know: Kate is the BEST. Kate is the reason to anticipate season two. Kate is a wrecking ball coming to destroy Anthony’s life in the best way possible.
More photos reveal Queen Charlotte, catching up with Lady Whistledown’s latest missive, Anthony trying to intimidate Kate via dancing, and Eloise and Penelope being best friends.
But the best photo isn’t on Shondaland’s Twitter for some reason. The best photo is of the Sharma sisters, Kate, her younger sister Edwina—the season of 1814’s diamond of the first water—and Kate’s faithful dog, Newton. Look at them. They are beauty, they are grace, LOOK AT NEWTON’S SWEET LITTLE FACE. Newton, the not at all fat and definitely purebred corgi, is the real star of the show, AND HE KNOWS IT. Newton is a DIVA who lives for the DRAMA which he instigates with reckless abandon and entirely at Anthony’s expense. So much of season two is going to be Anthony getting dunked on by the Sharmas and their dog, and I cannot wait. The countdown is on, t-minus nine weeks.
