We’ve been talking about all of Blake Lively’s floral fashions on the It Ends With Us press tour. Cate Blanchett is also on a press tour. Borderlands opens this Friday and Cate’s been making the rounds and, well, because this is Cate Blanchett, we’re dealing with a standard here. There is no theme – or, rather, the theme is just pure serves. Cate has always been strong with the drip, and on this movie it’s been look after look after look!
I already linked to this outfit earlier this week in What Else? and said that there’s no way that anyone else could throw down anything that could possible equal its amazingness.
Except Zendaya, of course, who is undercover right now. And of course Cate herself. Look at this pantsuit. The fit is perfect, the belt is so f-cking dope, and THOSE SHOES. But also, as always with Cate, it’s how she wears clothes. Like they were made for her, like they’re part of her, an extension of who she is.
As we know, Cate is big on sustainability – take a look at the details on this next fit with a Canadian connection. Mr Saturday is Canadian, and collaborates often with Roots, one of the most Canadian brands on the market.
Pretty much every person in Canada knows Roots.
And then there’s next level sustainability, this top from the Borderlands screening yesterday… Is. Made. Of. Spoons! Vintage spoons!
This must be so heavy? And yet she’s wearing it so casually – like it’s nothing, like it’s weightless.
Literally gives new dimension to that expression… SHE ATE! With spoons!
In other Cate news, we’re getting more of her in the fall. She’ll be at TIFF to receive the Tribute Award while also promoting her new Apple series, Disclaimer. Written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón with an impressive cast including Lesley Manville, Hoyeon, Kevin Kline, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, among others. A lot of Oscar and Emmy winners and nominees here. And of course Alfonso himself. Everyone says that every episode of this series is like its own film and Cate will be tearing up the screen as an acclaimed investigative journalist who’s made a career out of exposing corruption and malpractice but whose own secrets may be exposed when someone sends her a novel by an anonymous writer and she’s the main character. A teaser just dropped today. It’s about as prestige as prestige television can get.
