Sometimes someone will come along and own something so completely, it’s just plain lunacy to even attempt to go near it, no matter how long ago that was. In 1999, Cate Blanchett rocked the Oscar carpet in an amazing, one of a kind, unforgettable Galliano that goes down as one of my Top 5 of all time. Bold but not big, sexy but not skanky, totally original, butterflies gone punk, a dress that only she could have pulled off - a dress for all time, a dress so perfect, so worthy of worship, it is our duty to ridicule and tear down anything and anyone who dares imitate, especially when the imitator is some tv woman with a supporting role on a clever show that no one really watches. Where Cate’s back was intricate, Cheryl’s just came off tacky - too bright, too rhinestone, too many seasons behind the times. And hey – I’m all for ambition, I’m all for wanting to knock one out of the park…but I’m also a huge advocate for knowing one’s place in life, in Hollywood, on the carpet. It’s a formula I call the Fame/Fashion Balance: your level in the first category should determine your ego in the second. Now given that more than half of you don’t even know who the hell Cheryl is…why in name of Coco is she dressing like a Cate? Photos from https://www.hollywoodsbest.net/forum/
