If you’ve been online at all today, if you’ve opened up Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok, there’s no escaping it – it’s Met Gala Monday. People have been talking about it for days, we’ve been talking about it for days, and the talking is about to escalate to shrieking pretty soon as we get closer and closer to the arrivals. Because the looks we see at the Met Gala are often the most extravagant and/or preposterous – and therefore the most entertaining – looks we see all year.

Speaking of preposterous, here’s Katy Perry, a Met Gala regular, arriving in New York today ahead of tonight’s event. She’s known for taking the most on-the-nose approach to the theme, showing up as a chandelier or a hamburger, although she’s apparently said that her plan for this year is not what people are expecting. Supposedly she’s playing it more low-key and not so Halloween party. I don’t even know what that looks like where Katy Perry is concerned.

But like I said earlier, everyone is in New York right now because the Met Gala. Including Glenn Close – according to the paps, she was seen leaving a Valentino fitting. I mean, if we’re talking costume parties, which Tom Ford recently criticised the Met Gala of becoming, I would not be mad if Glenn showed up as the Marquise de Merteuil, LOL.

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade will also likely be there, again, and they are always reliably excellent at the Met Gala. Just look at what Gabby wore out for dinner the other night:

If that’s the appetiser, I can’t wait to see what she brings to the main event.

I also can’t wait to see Ho-yeon Jung at her first Met Gala. It’s been a year! Here she is arriving at her hotel in a street fit that I want to rip off her, I love it so much. Check out that fresh face though – she is flawless:

And Olivia Rodrigo was also out last night at the pre-Met Gala party in perhaps the most provocative outfit we’ve ever seen on her.

But actually no, now that I think about it, maybe the Met Gala is when Olivia goes full skin and body-con because for the Met Gala in September, this was her look:

As for the biggest Met Gala rumour going right now? Among Britney Spears fans there’s something circulating that she might actually show up:

Britney has never been to the Met Gala and it would be a huge get for Anna Wintour, no doubt, but while it would indeed be MEGA if she did actually attend, I don’t know if I buy this, or at least I don’t buy whatever this list is in the tweet. Not that I don’t want it to happen because of course I do. We all do. We want the biggest names, the biggest stories, and if Britney actually shows, few stories coming out of tonight will be bigger than her.
