Jason Alexander popped into the news yesterday (not the Seinfeld guy) because he attended a #FreeBritney rally and told reporters he is in touch with her regularly, including over text. Hmmmmm. My take on #FreeBritney is that there are kernels of truth from all sides – at one time the conservatorship served a purpose, but now it is too restrictive and she doesn’t require that level of oversight anymore. That’s why her lawyers petitioned to have her dad removed. On the flip side, there’s confirmation bias happening here, too. Do you believe her ex-husband (of 55 hours) who is willing to attend a rally wouldn’t immediately sell her texts to TMZ? Do we believe he knows more than her brother or Jamie Lynn? And if she is so tightly controlled, how is she able to text with someone who runs his mouth to US Weekly? I’m not saying everything is clean, but we still need to check our sources. Always.
I can’t get enough of Chloe Fineman and I believe Drew Barrymore appreciates the imitation (Chloe is not the first – Kristen Wiig and Sarah Paulson have gone there). Drew has a very specific cadence (kind of like Robert DeNiro) and is of course a good sport. Who should Chloe do next? I want Jennifer Aniston.
These vacation photos of Nina Dobrev came up, which made me think of Shaun White – they were dealing with each other during quarantine. Still are, judging by the photos.
Dakota Johnson, like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson before her, chose her breakout role. All three waited (whether on their own or with guidance from their parents) until they were over 18 to enter the business because there’s no rush. It’s not like the doors would close for them. Will we be adding Stella del Carmen Banderas to this list soon? She’s 23, beautiful and has two big last names.
Jessica Seinfeld is always one to publicly support her famous friends’ projects (in this case, Cameron Diaz’s wine). And it sent me down a rabbit hole of Jessica Seinfeld and Kelly Ripa – remember how tight they were a few years ago? And now they don’t even follow each other on Instagram. That’s more than growing apart, no? There’s a smutty tingle here.
A commercial for Tenet came on last night and I thought of Sarah, who has been tracking its release for months. It’s coming out now, I guess. I still find movie theatres confusing. This was supposed to be John David Washington’s major movie star moment (after the success of BlacKkKlansman), the one that pushes him to the top of the list alongside the Leos and Brads and Chrises. Can it still happen with this release?
