Selena Gomez is in deeeeepppp.
Every single piece of Super Bowl gossip is being devoured, like the observation about Lana Del Rey removing her 49ers jacket before entering the Kelce family suite. Elaine Benes did it first. There’s an entire Seinfeld episode about Elaine wearing a rival team’s baseball cap in a box suite and the melee that ensues because Elaine refused to remove it. Lana didn’t have that issue. She was knocked over, but not because of the jacket.
I will, of course, be reading every word of the new Sharon Stone profile in InStyle because she always delivers really big opinions on her career and movie stardom and the general state of Hollywood now versus when she came up. The quote below already has me thinking. I do think it’s expensive to be a celebrity because of costs we don’t see (laser treatments aren’t cheap!). But what happens at dinner?
My take is that either celebrities are comped (for things regular people pay for) or, like Sharon says, they are expected to cover the tab and tip generously. Otherwise they look cheap. What’s important to keep in mind here is that Sharon is of the generation that does brand partnerships but not the smaller tit-for-tat freebie trades. She’s not hustling on TikTok for a surf and turf.
Katy Perry is leaving American Idol to release new music. She used to be a hit machine but nothing is crueler to a pop musician than the march of time. I quite liked Never Really Over and with the right team of producers, she could rise again. That would be fun.
With Katy leaving, that means there’s a spot open on American Idol for a new judge. This is a very sweet, high paying gig. There are definitely managers making some calls today. I have a pick who I think would be a great fit: multiple iconic hits and she’s had her own reality TV series. Toni Braxton!
This morning Sarah wrote about this year’s Oscar villain and she’s so right. As Sarah wrote, earnestness and enthusiasm actually works against the villains. People don’t want to see beautiful and famous people yearn for something, it makes us uncomfortable. It’s unfair, but this year that falls on BCoop. But what has he done that’s so different than say, RDJ who has been campaign as hard as Bradley. And he’s working the Instagram angle, which Bradley doesn’t really touch.
