I haven’t listened to the Pete Davidson interview with Charlamagne tha God, choosing instead to read the recaps and there are two things I want to touch on. First up is his work life at SNL. He says, “I personally think I should be done with that show because they make fun of me. They think I’m f–king dumb … I have a weird feeling in that building where I don’t know whose team they’re playing for, really; if I’m the joke or I’m in on the joke.” This Page Six story has sources that say Pete gets preferential treatment from the mercurial Lorne Michaels and Pete doesn’t do a lot in the writers’ room. SNL is legendary for being an intense, sometimes toxic workplace and it all comes down to Lorne’s approval – who is he favouriting one week and ignoring the next? That’s probably where at least some of the conflict comes from: Pete is currently in a plum position which probably engenders all sorts of resentment and weirdness with his coworkers.
He also talked about his relationships: Kaia was too young (she’s 18, so duh), Kate Beckinsale was too busy, and he and Ariana were leveled by Mac Miller’s death. He said, “I’m not dating for a while. Unless I meet the love of my life.” Do you get the sense that Pete meets the “love of his life” on a semi-regular basis?
Julianne Hough credits her free ice cream cone down to a random act of kindness but, um, isn’t it more likely she got it because she went to a very popular ice cream shop in LA and they recognized her?
It reminded me of the story in Mindy Kaling’s book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me; she frequented a very trendy cupcake shop until one day they offered her free dessert in exchange for a post on Instagram. She was so weirded out she never went back.
John Travolta is a pilot and actually enjoys flying – I want to hear his thoughts on the seat puncher.
How famous is Dove Cameron to regular people? I can’t gauge her popularity because The Descendants is like Titanic in my house, so my perspective is skewed. But, I do think she is next in line to be the Disney star who makes it to mainstream stardom.
Is Wrong Direction about Niall Horan? The title is just a little too coincidental.
Yesterday in this space, I mentioned Miley’s upcoming concert in Australia and the connection to Liam Hemsworth. Lainey added in the part about Cody also being Australian because if I’m honest, I don’t retain any information about him. Don’t’ know what his voice sounds like, have never seen his work – I kind of thought he was a DJ? Anyways, he and Miley are still dating, even though they’ve moved from the main feed to Instagram stories.
