Celebrity Social Media, March 11, 2019

Deciphering celebrity social media posts is not a science – sometimes we are bang-on and sometimes we have our heads up our asses. But this tweet from Seth Rogen is no doubt a tribute to Julia Roberts. One hundred per cent, no room for interpretation. I feel it in my bones.

Chris Martin, who doesn’t personally use social media, typed out a note to recommend music and books, which his band’s social media manager then tweeted and posted on Instagram. If I’m taking a recommendation from someone on what to watch, read, or listen to, I need to trust their taste level. If he wants to be mysterious, that’s fine. But jumping on social media once a year to give out recommendations to people you don’t want to interact with is almost arrogant. You aren’t Oprah! (And she doesn’t do that – she loves talking about the projects she champions.)

Lainey wants Brie Larson’s custom Juicy Couture track suit. Speaking of mid-aughts brands, Baby Phat is back. Kind of. Kimora Lee Simmons Leissner, who headed the company from 2000-2010 (through its acquisition in 2004) says she has bought it back. I was looking through some old photos and everyone wore Baby Phat – Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Carrie Underwood. I’m so curious to see what the re-emergence of this brand looks like. Will they bring back the cat?

I’m the idiot who dropped her kids off an hour late for school this morning. Someone give me a petition to send to end the tyranny of changing the time on a random day in March.

Did you know Kiefer Sutherland does cooking tutorials – beef with oyster sauce, roast chicken, steak. After a short intro, the video redirects to his website, which is kiefersutherland.net (damn, Kiefer couldn’t secure that .com?) and there the cooking videos are mixed in with his music videos. It looks like it was designed by an uncle who does websites in his spare time, which is pretty on-brand for good ol’ Kiefer. And I can’t mention him without posting a video of his best work.
