Instagram was down yesterday and Lindsay Lohan grabbed her magnifying glass and threw on a trench coat to get to the bottom of it.

It’s a very specific early-aughts thing but remember when poker was huge with young stars? I specifically remember Mila Kunis and Macaulay Culkin playing together on TV so I had to look it up – the show was called Hollywood Hold ‘Em.  Laura Prepon was on with Ike Barinholtz. Simpler times.

The college scam story has opened up a lot of conversation on privilege, legacy, and blame (as in, who gets blamed for “taking up all the spots” at prestigious universities). Zoe Kazan decided to weigh in on her merit and tutoring. I’m sure the tutoring helped, as did her famous last name, her grandfather’s status and the fact that she’s a descendant of a former Yale president.

No matter how big the house or famous the occupants or expensive the artwork, every kitchen has a corner that is a jumble of chargers and chords.

I’ve mentioned SMILF several times in this space and it’s been cancelled, not because of low ratings but because of on-set issues with showrunner and creator Frankie Shaw (her development deal has also been suspended without pay). The major accusation was about a mishandled sex scene, leading to actress Samara Weaving leaving the show. Other issues include reports of separating writers by race, uncredited scripts, and rampant unprofessionalism. Rosie O’Donnell, definitely the most experienced performer in the cast, raised concerns to the higher-ups while still supporting Shaw’s talent and work, which she spoke about on record. Overall, it seems like a dysfunctional set. Where Shaw goes from here, and how this will affect her opportunities (she was reportedly set to direct The Bell Jar), remains to be seen.
