Rachel Bilson is on a new show, which made me realize her other show, Take Two, had been cancelled. Her co-star was Eddie Cibrian, who has been on a lot of cancelled TV shows. Professionally, Rachel hasn’t totally floundered but she hasn’t had her own hit – she’s kind of in the same career position Mandy Moore was in before This Is Us. And even though the premise of Lovestruck sounds interesting (the series takes place over one evening at a wedding), there’s no easy way to predict what will spark. But I want Rachel Bilson to spark again!
Yesterday I mentioned the re-emergence of Juicy Couture tracksuits and bootcut jeans – do I need to add bucket hats to the list? What is the end game here? Models walking around with Sidekicks and Motorola Razrs?
I think I’ve seen maybe half of a Fast & Furious movie and I couldn’t figure out the male/female relationships – I thought Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster were married. I’m also the idiot who thought Fast & Furious and the XXX were the same films. I need to take the Vin Diesel cannon more seriously.
Billions is back and it’s the worst best show on TV – it’s ridiculous and entertaining as hell. Each character is rich and amoral and awful and the actors are so watchable. It’s a wonderful break form prestige TV that can get heavy.
Penelope Cruz played Donatella Versace in The Assassination of Gianna Versace: American Crime Story. The family didn’t approve of the series, but Penelope (who played Donatella) has maintained a strong relationship with the house of Versace since then. At the time she was cast, Penelope said that she asked (and was granted) Donatella’s permission and I wonder how that conversation went. I think that Donatella would recognize the importance of her story in a larger cultural context, and approve of being played by a proper movie star.
