As Lainey wrote this morning, it’s the first Monday in May and while I miss covering my beloved Olsen twins, there is enough history to sustain us for a year. Today is Jessica Simpson’s birthday and the most memorable showing of her was in 2007. She and John Mayer, who had his embarrassed face on, were photographed holding hands. I believe that was the last time she attended. Major gossip nostalgia.
Should we make it a theme? Let’s go for it. We know Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello would have been all over that red carpet tonight – Shawn is a great date. Remember how he adjusted Hailey then-Baldwin’s gown for her? That was in 2018 – only two years ago! But to young celebrities, that’s like two decades.
Tracee Ellis Ross’s blue Comme des Garçons is one of my favourite outfits ever because it fit the theme (in honour of Rei Kawakubo) and it fit her – it didn’t look like a costume, even though it was unique. But for every best there is a worst. The year of Camp was a disaster but no one was worse than Karlie Kloss.
No one, not even Anna Wintour, is missing tonight more than Derek Blasberg. It is his night to shine! And take a ton of candid photos that he can store away for his Instagram feed. Derek is “friends” with everyone but do you suspect there are people who don’t really f-ck with him? I do. The photo of him and Taylor is from 2014.
