Chrissy Teigen is calling for some kind of plan to tackle social media addiction, not by deleting it but by things like time restrictions.
Did you know you can lock yourself out of Instagram after a certain amount of time? I put it on every device in my house, it helps me scroll with purpose. When I know what I’m looking for (e.g. a post for work, or a recipe I saw, or an interview I want to circle back to) it helps with focus.
TikTok is like a Housewife who pretends to walk off the stage during a reunion – we know she’s being dramatic, Andy knows she’s being dramatic – but we let her play her little game for the camera because it’s obvious she isn’t going anywhere. (Here’s Addison Rae, one of the most popular TikTokers ever who posted a goodbye and a “we’re back!” video a day later.)

This is an interesting story – have you ever seen the toddler side-eye meme? Her mom is speaking out about how it changed their life (they struggled economically, and used the money made from going viral for food, rent and bills) and the impact on her daughter (who is, apparently, big in Brazil). This is supposed to be a feel-good story but there is a question of whether or not it is fair for a parent to monetize their children’s image to benefit the entire family. Should a child ever be paying for rent, food and bills?
At one point, Disney expressed interest in their other daughter and her mom immediately shut it down, worried about child fame. But today, Disney fame comes with some checks and balances like Coogan’s Law. YouTube is completely unregulated. And I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this story comes out just as Chloe reemerges on YouTube.
When a disaster hits an area, scammers are always in the mix. Because the fires are in LA, those scammers are using celebrities to try and trick people. I’ve seen a few of these “this is my only account” posts go up. But Jeremy Renner’s got me thinking that at one time, Jeremy was somewhat accessible online through his very own app! (RIP) Honestly, I’d be down if celebrities wanted to do this again, or websites (Beyoncé) or newsletters (On the JLo). It is way more entertaining than social media.
Serena and Kordell were a slow burn on Love Island that really paid off!!!! Rihanna knows who they are.
Brittany Mahomes attending the game less than a week after giving birth is causing a totally normal conversation online (just kidding, it’s unhinged) and really, no one knows if she should be healing at home or out there, only she knows that. Every body is different. But you know what I noticed? There are multiple negative comments under her post that have the same language, word for word. Who got their bot army after Brittany?
