Olivia Rodrigo has signed with Lancôme and this is one that I can’t quite figure out on either end. Lancôme is a very established skin brand and I would think their target demo skews a little older than Olivia. And Olivia is so fiery and youthful, why partner with a line that is pretty set in its ways? I’m not sure, but this could be a long-term strategy in which she grows alongside the demographic, bringing Gen Z and their star pimple patches (which I think are cute BTW) along with her as they transition to “can’t fall asleep with makeup on anymore” age.
If that is the plan, that means Olivia probably won’t launch skin care or makeup of her own; I imagine there’s some buffer time built into these contracts.
Taylor Swift’s tour will be wrapping up soon, unless she extends it which is always a possibility – she is so dialed in, I could see her adding more shows. There’s been an endless list of big names who have attended these concerts, all the way back to Karlie Kloss in August of 2023. You know who doesn’t seem to have made it? Martha Hunt. Martha and Taylor were very, very close after Karlie and Taylor fell out, but their appearances dried up after 2019. Maybe they are still friends, but the drop-off is noticeable.
There was a time when Taylor surrounded herself with Victoria’s Secret models, not to Leo D. levels but she was a pretty avid collector in her squad era. Out of that group, it seems like she’s only stayed friendly with Lily Aldridge.
It’s been clear for months that Armie Hammer has been slowly working his way back and he’s landed his first big role in a movie Western with William H. Macy and Thomas Jane. Does he even have an agent? I don’t know. Sarah would need to give me the lowdown but reading the article in Deadline, it seems like an independent film. (Sarah: Not sure about Armie Hammer's agent but that film is produced by Dallas Sonnier, whose indie company Cinestate shut down in 2020 following allegations of onset misconduct, including a producer who was arrested for alleged sexual assault.)
And yes, Armie’s mom got him a vasectomy for his birthday.
Connie Nielsen posed with two men at the Gladiator premiere and I thought they were her sons. Her kids’ father is Lars Ulrich. Double nepo babies, my favourite kind. But these are not her kids; one is her stepson Layne Ulrich and the other is his bandmate Kai Smith, with the good hair. (Flip through the photos to see.)
Gwyneth Paltrow is attempting to connect with the poors (anyone who doesn’t live in Montecito or Brentwood) by declaring her love, or at least her acceptance, of canned cranberries. Yes, of course canned cranberries are better. Trying to make fresh cranberry sauce is like a restaurant making its own ketchup. No one wants your stupid artisanal ketchup with star anise! We want the kind that squirts out of a bottle.
