Reese Witherspoon announced a casting call for Legally Blonde – which nepo baby is going to not use their parents’ name for the audition and land this baby?
Lainey gave me a media boner this morning with her assessment on the Sussexes’ PR defence (must read here). And it led me to a deep dive into the last month or so of US Weekly covers: TNT, George Clooney, Miranda Lambert, Bennifer, Prince William, Brad and Angelina, Ben Affleck solo, Kate Middleton, the Olsens, Taylor Swift solo, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, TNT again… do you see a pattern? I do and it’s the level of fame they are courting. The cover shots are all professional, not paparazzi shots. And the headlines are tantalizing but not salacious, like no false claims or weight or drug claims (a sure sign of a trashy tabloid).
So I was like, OK I see where the publication is going. And then I checked their social media and the vibe is different, much more reality TV. Including the latest cover of the Mormon TikTok wives, which was posted today, also as an exclusive. I don’t think that’s what her team intended.
I don’t want to spoil Dancing With the Stars but one of my predictions was bang on and the other was very wrong (this has a spoiler)! Why am I so invested in a show I don’t watch? That is the real question.
I looked at Johnny Depp’s Instagram because he’s been in the news and you know what’s interesting? His June 2022 statement about his trial has 18 million likes, yet his newest post has about 500k. Has Johnny’s popularity waned that much? It doesn’t seem so as he’s the still the face of a Dior fragrance and directing and appearing at film festivals. But that’s quite a drop, no? Just an observation.
