“Not yet.” She’s been saying this for weeks. It’s become a signature line. Is it time for Christmas, Mimi? “Not yet.” She even posted a video:
At this point, other than Santa, no one else is as closely associated with Christmas as Mariah Carey. Mimi owns Christmas. And what I like about this “not yet” thing, this repetition, is that she’s made herself the Christmas grand marshal, like at a motorsport race, the person who tells everyone to start their engines. It’s only go time when Mimi says it’s go time.
So guess what?
It’s go time!
Mimi went metal for Halloween and now, beginning today, it’s red and white only, never green, and top speed Christmas for the next eight weeks. Are you ready? Or do you want to slap me? You’re going to want to slap me becuase I’m almost finished my holiday shopping. I have one more thing I’m waiting on and I have to take a few items in to get monogrammed but I’ll be done by the end of this weekend. I’ve also already ordered a couple of new ugly Christmas sweaters that I can’t wait to wear. Because by the time it’s ugly Christmas sweater time, there are no more sizes available. So, even if you’re mad at me for talking about Christmas too early, maybe keep that in mind? If you’re an ugly Christmas sweater person, don’t leave it until the last minute.
