Intro for February 26, 2026
Dear Gossips,
In my article about Connor Storrie yesterday I mentioned that I’d been waiting all morning for Saturday Night Live to drop the first promo – and of course they did it right when we posted.
This is one of the strongest SNL promos we’ve seen in a while, and while some have wondered why this wasn’t saved as an actual sketch, it’s actually perfect for a promo. Because you don’t want it to go on too long and also because it does the job as a promo for the host. Connor is playing himself, highlighting one of the skills that has made him so famous: the accent.
You’ll note that even Shrek left a comment, LOL. That’s the one that took me out, when the spittle goes flying. If we’re talking about a Jamaican accent and an actor who did not hesitate to do it, that sketch just gave us an excuse to post this, again.

Back to Connor and SNL, credit to the producers who made the right call here. And the writers who are obviously well rested with fresh ideas. Hopefully that’s a good sign for what we’re about to see on the weekend.
Filming a digital short style sketch for the promo doesn’t happen often, and the host doing interviews at Studio 8H during the week doesn’t either. An appearance on The Tonight Show? Sure. An onset interview? I haven’t seen it in a while.
When your host is willing though, it opens up the possibility to so much more. And of course that’s essential on SNL. This is the show’s enduring appeal for those of us who are faithful to it – anything is possible when it’s live.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
