Late last year, Drake released a line of scented candles through a new company, Better World Fragrance House. There were five at launch, one which promised to smell like him, all made in Canada, and they sold out – the timing was great, just around the holidays. Today Drake announced his first scent series:

Well, it was only a matter of time. And it’s not like this isn’t a pretty standard celebrity move. So many celebrities have fragrances, some more successful than others, because certain celebrities are more suited to fragrance than others. Like, did you know Bruce Willis had a fragrance? I don’t know how well it did, and I’m not even sure it’s available anymore, but I remember when it was announced back then, it was a record scratch moment for me. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t feel like anyone was walking around saying to themselves, I want to smell like Bruce Willis, although I do remember the PR for it at the time was that it was the “manliest scent in the world”, whatever that means.

Drake, however, Drake I get. Drake looks like he smells great. I’ve only interviewed Drake once, but that was in 2009, just before he really became the super megastar he is now, so even though I was close enough to smell him, I don’t have any memory of how he smelled because he probably didn’t smell then the way he smells now in all his Drakeness. What is the scent of Drakeness?

The candle that smells like him was described as “Smooth musk fragrance … introspective as in an interpretation of your beautiful self, yet extrovertive as how you would want others to see your bold and brilliant self. Features notes of Musk, Ambers, Cashmere, Suede, and Velvet.” That’s a word salad but I think it fits with my imagined Drake scent profile: whiskey and spice. With a dash of extra. Maybe more than a dash.

Here's Drake out in LA for dinner last night still with that heart in his hair, still the Certified Lover Boy, and still we are waiting for this album. Meanwhile he went viral a few days ago after posting a video of his son, Adonis, watching LeBron James highlights on YouTube. This kid is SO cute, I can’t. And he knows what he’s talking about.

There was also another video in stories with Adonis showing off his moves. First of all, the boy (of the Boy) is learning how to play on his dad’s custom court and second, his pickup outfit is already better than my entire wardrobe.
