There was a Paul McCartney concert in New York City last night that attracted a lot of celebrity fans including Emma Stone who was there with her mother. Earlier this week SNL announced the list of cast members and guest hosts over the years who’ll be part of the three-hour 50th anniversary special airing on Sunday. I was surprised that Emma’s not on the list, especially since she’s a member of the Five Timers Club. And her husband Dave McCary worked on the show. Maybe she’ll end up showing up.
Let’s talk about her hair. She shaved her head last year for a role in Yorgos Lanthimos’s next film and we saw her for the first time on the red carpet with her pixie at the Golden Globes. But here, underneath that toque, it’s reminding me, a little, of Winona Ryder back in the 90s when she famously and so beautifully rocked that pixie.
I loved it the most on her and Halle Berry too because of how softly their hair bended to their faces. My hair doesn’t sit like this when it’s super short since it grows up and out and doesn’t lie flat to the head. So this is how I always wanted it to look:
THAT FACE.
I mean that face is doing a lot of the work but you see what I mean about how her hair tapered down and in? God that looks good. And Emma’s hair is doing the same thing – she looks amazing, I wish we had better shots of her straight on but it’s not like there was a red carpet to pose on. It’s giving a little Winona to me because she too has big round eyes, but also a little Rosemary’s Baby and Twiggy. I hope she keeps it short for a little while longer.
What else happened today…
Taylor Lautner is going back to Twilight, kind of? Something something about a series in which he plays himself after wrapping the final Twilight movie and then becomes a werewolf hunter. Even though he played a werewolf in the movies… I think that’s the premise? (Pajiba)
Kerry Washington looks sickeningly good in Thom Browne, I’m so f-cking jealous. (Go Fug Yourself)
Someone needs to write an essay about phone battery personalities. Maybe I’ll do it one day. But what kind of phone battery person are you? There are so many people in my life who never f-cking have phone battery. My husband, for one, has been known to run out, or hover at 20% when we’re leaving the house to go somewhere. Kathleen makes me crazy, we’ve been out so many times and her phone is almost dead. Duana can be like this too. I, on the other hand, get anxious if I’m under 70%. Apparently people like me are the losers because keeping your phone steadily charged is not good for it, which I always knew, but did you know that fast chargers (which I use) are also not good for your phone? Allegedly. (Celebitchy)
It’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow and if you’re not in the mood for love… how about beef? “The 12 Juiciest Celebrity Grudges” by Katja Vujić kinda meets this moment because conflict, clearly, is more popular than romance right now. (The Cut)
Sort of related – knives! I’ve been looking for knives so this list by Stephanie Ganz of the best knives for every budget and vibe is perfect timing. My knives are so sh-t, but I keep putting it off until last week, I was trying to slice beef and my janky knife almost ruined my perfect cut of flank steak and I decided, new knives are a priority!
