Eva Mendes has kept a relatively low profile over the last decade or so. She’s active on social media but we don’t see her out getting papped very often. She’s not attending a premiere every week. She and Ryan Gosling make a point of not walking red carpets together, not even when he’s nominated for Oscars or performing the most highly anticipated musical number at the Oscars.
But Eva is out front right now, back on promotion for the first time in a long time, in New York on a press tour for her new book, Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries, a picture book inspired by Eva’s own childhood and her children about anxiety in kids and how to talk about it.
Here she is describing what it was like for her growing up and the relationship between her culture and anxiety.
Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries releases today and on Instagram yesterday Eva posted about how excited she was about “tomorrow” which I think many probably assumed to be about the book. And no doubt it was… but maybe not *only* about the book. Because while the book was announced at least six months ago, there was another announcement that was made today with no lead time: Eva and Raye are the two new ambassadors for Stella McCartney’s “It’s About F-cking Time” campaign.
The name of the campaign comes from a tank that Stella made for herself to wear to Paul McCartney’s Rock Hall induction back in 1999. On the 25th anniversary she’s repurposed it to highlight cruelty-free products and practices.
Eva looks great, both in the campaign images and also today, wearing what’s now a signature print for her before changing into stripes for Good Morning America. But the timing also couldn’t be better, right? To have a book launch and also a fashion launch on the same day, Eva and her marketing and publicity team have done a great job so far with this rollout.
