First… are you all caught up on Atlanta? Last night’s episode destroyed me. Every episode has destroyed me. Every single episode this season has been f-cking genius and, seriously, this is not hyperbole. Teddy Perkins? Woods? North Of The Border? FUBU? That’s four back to back to back episodes that are better than any other half hour of TV on any other show right now, no exaggeration, and that includes black-ish, my favourite show.
Anyway, I’m talking about Atlanta because of Lakeith Stanfield who co-stars on Atlanta and who is pretty much showing up everywhere these days. If you don’t already know him, get ready to know him. This summer he’s in Sorry To Bother You, predicted to be the breakout comedy alternative programming to the big blockbuster smashes in July. He’s been working on the new Lisbeth Salander movie with Claire Foy. And he’s also shooting Gina Rodriguez’s rom-com, Someone Great. Check them out filming a kissing scene in New York yesterday and now…I’m a shipper. Like there was no question I was going to see this movie. But now it’s practically guaranteed that I will leave this movie wanting Gina and Lakeith to be a couple IRL even though, yes, I know, she has a boyfriend and they’re happy together. That didn’t seem to be a problem for Twi-Hards and it’s not going to be a f-cking problem for me. LOOK AT THEM.
