Intro for Jun 20, 2011
Dear Gossips,
Looking forward to seeing you at SMUT tonight! Don’t forget – Sasha and the B-Insider will be scouting during the event. There’s a $2,000 shopping spree at the Bay on the line to the winner of the Style Award. That could be you!
Speaking of Sasha – there was no eyef-cking between her and Colin Farrell last night at the MMVAs although he did look really, really hot and apparently smelled really, really good. Maybe his shirt could have been buttoned up a little more though. More on Colin later and other thoughts on the MMVAs including, for you Vampire Diaries fans, Nina and Ian’s moment right beside the etalk Lounge.
But first...
About Lady Gaga...
You may not be into her costuming, or her songs, you may not be down with her spectacle, but when it comes to her fans, and her relationship with them, and how she genuinely appreciates them, she has no equal. Lady Gaga is monster successful. Indisputably on top right now. And still there she was, after soundcheck, right in the thick of the mob, walking up and down the street this weekend greeting her fans, spending time with them, engaging them, appreciating them. I PROMISE you so many of the other artists last night did not bother to do the same. And there’s no megabitchassness behind the scenes either. Several nominated musicians told me that Selena Gomez’s situation was way more obnoxious and “we need to lock this place down!” than Lady Gaga’s. Gaga in fact had no such drama. Gaga rode the elevator with civilians, played with a wrangler’s walkie, sang to the person on the other end, and was generally one of the most welcoming and friendly acts of the night. At the end of a long night, during which she performed twice, she was gracious and humble – as they all should be, right? – in the etalk Lounge for her interview. Then she hit up the press conference in a small packed room with journalists and fulfilled her obligations there too. Put it this way – Selena Gomez, the co-host of the show, had already taken off with Justin Bieber. So there’s that.
Anyway, it was a full weekend, and I’ve got a full day, and it has to be full a column, so I’ll be writing on the move, and Duana, Sarah, and Sasha are all contributing today too. Please refresh often!
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
